La prova del fuoco: IJ7V Contest I.O.T.A. 2015

Due sono le date che sono segnate in rosso nel calendario personale, il compleanno, sia che venga di lunedì od altro giorno della settimana e l’ultimo weekend di Luglio per il Contest delle Isole Mondiali, lo I.O.T.A .
Dopo due esperienze come organizzatore e componente del Team Multioperatore IJ7A, era arrivato il momento di cimentarsi e mettere alla prova la propria resistenza fisica e capacità operativa come Singolo Operatore 24H.
A gennaio di quest’anno parte la raccomandata con destinazione il Comando Marittimo Sud – Taranto per la richiesta di poter soggiornare ed installare una stazione radio sull’Isola di proprietà della stessa Marina Militare. Quest’anno più che mai l’incertezza dell’autorizzazione era insita in me a causa di cambiamenti organizzativi dell’Amministrazione Militare con relativi passaggi di gestione delle varie attività e tra queste la gestione e l’organizzazione delle strutture e del personale militare presente sull’Isola.
Quale Isola? Per me tarantino di nascita sia anagrafica che radioamatoriale avendo avuto come maestri Vasco I7VYU, Lino I7UNX, Mimmo IK7FRV, Mike IK7MCJ, Antonio I7DQX, Joe IK7FPV, Raffaele IK7BPV, Roby IK7QLZ con alcuni dei quali ancora SWL e successivamente OM ebbi la fortuna di far parte del gruppo di attivatori nel lontano 1985, la mia Isola è San Pietro EU073 del gruppo delle Isole Cheradi nel Golfo di Taranto.
A seguito di questa riorganizzazione, mi aspettavo una risposta tramite raccomandata invece il 9 aprile tra le tante mail in arrivo ce n’era una diversa dal solito……..” in esito a quanto rappresentato con la raccomandata……….si rende noto……….è stata accolta per il periodo dal 23.07.2015 al 27.07.2015.
L’avventura ebbe inizio… tra contatti telefonici istituzionali ed organizzazione del trasporto, della logistica e non per ultimo la scelta delle antenne e quale migliore aiuto mi poteva arrivare da un carissimo amico, Gianni I7PHH alias PRO.SIS.TEL. ?
Finalmente il giorno del Contest, la mia prova del fuoco che tra numeri progressivi, referenze IOTA, pile-up, nominativi di tutti i country del mondo, litri di caffè e merendine mi ha portato ad un risultato che mi ero prefissato ma raggiunto parzialmente per via dell’impossibilità ad operare tra le 23,00 e le 02,00 UTC in 80M a causa delle trasmissioni di MARITELE che ha la sede operativa proprio sull’Isola. Peccato !
A conclusione di quest’articolo voglio ringraziare per la fattiva collaborazione e disponibilità che è andata oltre il ruolo istituzionale, il Comandante di MARITELE TARANTO, il suo stretto collaboratore CAPO COMPONENTE TECNICA, tutti i militari facenti parte del Distaccamento sull’Isola e tra questi un OM pugliese Alessio IU7EHF ( foto 5 )che con un trattorino ci ha aiutati a trasportare le attrezzature nella sede prevista dalla nostra autorizzazione, Paolo dipendente dell’AMAT ( Azienda per la Mobilità nell’Area di Taranto) che ci ha pianificato il nostro trasferimento con la Motonave “Adria” , Gianni I7PHH ( PRO.SIS.TEL.), Frank IZ7AUH ( DXGADGET ), Art IK7JWY per le Tabelle di Propagazione. Infine è d’obbligo qualche informazione tecnica; nominativo usato, IJ7V; categoria, SO-SSB-24H-HP-DXP; totale qso effettuati , 900; totale moltiplicatori, 89; stop forzato, 4 ore……risultato finale: soddisfatto !
Al prossimo ultimo weekend di luglio 2016 da qualche altra Isola……forse !!!

THE CRUCIAL TEST: IJ7V CONTEST I.O.T.A. 2015

Usually there are two dates marked in red in the personal calendar : the birthday, whether it is on Monday or on another day of the week and July’s last weekend, in which takes place the IOTA Contest on worldly islands.
After two experiences as an organizer and a Team Multi-operator member, it was time to try and test my physical endurance and my operative capability as a Single Operator 24-hours-a-day .
In January 2015 a registered letter has been sent to the South Maritime Command of Taranto to be allowed to stay and install a radio station on the Island owned by the Navy.
In particular, this year, because of some organizational changes of the Military Administration (such as, for example, activities’ management changes, including the management and organization of the structures and the military personnel on the Island) it was uncertain whether the authorization was granted.
But which Island? I was born in Taranto and, having worked with Vasco I7VYU, Lino I7UNX, Mimmo IKF7FRV, Mike IK7MCJ, Antonio I7DQX, Joe IK7FPV, Raffaele IK7BPV, Roby IK7QLZ - with some of whom I took part in the activists’ team in 1985-, I say my Island is “San Pietro”, part of the Cheradi Islands in the Gulf of Taranto.
What’s more, I expected the answer by a registered letter, but on 9th April a particular mail appeared among my inbox : “In response to your request….. it has been accepted for the period from 23/07/2015 to 27/07/2015 .
The adventure began… What with one thing and another – institutional contacts, organization of transport, logistics and the choice of aerials – a friend of mine , Gianni I7PHH (PRO.SIS.TEL.) helped me.
At last , the day of the Contest, my crucial test made me achieve my intended results, partially realised because of the impossibility to work between 23.00 pm and 2.00 am in 80M. due to the broadcasts of MARITELE, a radio station based on the same island.
In conclusion I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Commander of MARITELE TARANTO; his close CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER co-worker; the military staff who served on the island, including Alessio IU7EHF - who helped us to carry the equipment on the base - ; Paolo, a AMAT member who planned our transfer by the motorboat “Adria” ; Gianni I7PHH (PRO.SIS.TEL) ; Frank IZ7AUH (DXGADGET) and Art IK7JWY for Propagation Maps.
Finally here there are some technical information : call sign used, IJ7V; category SO- SSB- 24H- HP- DXP; total qso, 900 ; total multipliers, 89 ; forced stop, 4 hours…. Result : satisfied!
See you on July’ last weekend 2016 , somewhere , on another island … perhaps!!!
